Who qualifies for the CDCP
The Canadian Dental Care Plan is federal dental coverage for people without private insurance. As of the 2026–27 benefit year, it’s open to all ages. You qualify if all three are true:
- You don’t have access to private dental insurance — through work, a family member’s plan, a pension, or a personal policy
- Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000
- You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes and filed last year’s tax return
Your income also sets your share: under $70,000, covered services are fully covered; between $70,000 and $89,999, the plan covers a portion. Applications and renewals run through canada.ca/dental.
What the CDCP covers
The plan covers the care that keeps you healthy: exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, root canal therapy, dentures, and extractions, with some major treatments requiring pre-authorization before work begins. It doesn’t cover cosmetic dentistry, and orthodontic coverage hasn’t launched yet. One honest note: CDCP coverage doesn’t always match everything a visit includes, so some visits carry a difference — we’ll always tell you exactly what’s covered and what isn’t before any treatment starts. No surprises is a policy here, not a slogan.
Using your CDCP coverage at the studio
Already approved? Book an appointment and bring your CDCP member card — we’ll handle it from there. Not enrolled yet? Check your eligibility and apply at canada.ca/dental (it’s free), then come see us once your coverage is confirmed. Questions about whether a specific treatment is covered? Ask — decoding coverage is part of the service.
