How implant restoration works — and where we fit in
An implant tooth is a two-phase project, done by two kinds of clinicians. Phase one is surgical: an implant surgeon or periodontist places the titanium implant into the jaw, where it fuses with the bone over the following months. That part happens outside our studio — we don’t place implants, and we’d rather tell you that plainly than blur it.
Phase two is ours, and it’s where the implant becomes a tooth. We design and fit the restoration: an abutment that connects to the implant, and the crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture that goes on top — shade-matched, bite-checked, and adjusted until it works like the original. One implant or a full arch, the standard is the same. Throughout, we coordinate directly with your surgeon so the two phases feel like one plan.

What is dental implant restoration, exactly?
It’s the second half of getting an implant tooth: the custom crown, bridge, or denture attached to a surgically placed implant. The implant replaces the root; the restoration replaces everything you actually see and chew with. Without a restoration, an implant is just hardware waiting for a purpose.
Do you place implants at the studio?
No — and we think you deserve that answer up front. Implant placement is surgery, done by implant surgeons and periodontists. Our work is the restorative side: everything from the abutment up. If you haven’t had your implant placed yet, we’re glad to help you understand the road ahead and plan the restoration so the final tooth is designed before the surgery begins — which is, frankly, the right order to do it in.
Is an implant crown covered by insurance in Canada?
The restoration is covered separately from the surgery — your surgeon handles the implant placement, and we plan the restorative work after an examination, with a clear written treatment plan before anything begins. Insurance often treats the two phases differently too; bring your plan and we’ll help you sort what’s covered where.
How long after implant surgery until I get my tooth?
Typically a few months — the implant needs time to fuse solidly with the bone before it can carry a tooth, and your surgeon confirms when it’s ready. The good news: the restoration itself moves quickly once healing is done, and we can have your case planned in advance so there’s no waiting at the finish line.
